To the West lie the tranquil waters of the Caribbean, bordered by sandy beaches or cliffs and dotted with coastal villages. From Pointe du Bout there is a spectacular view of the beautiful bay which surrounds the island’s capital city, Fort de France. To the North lies unspoilt rain forest, streams and Mount Pelée, a live volcano.
The childhood home of Napoleon’s Josephine, one time residence of the artist Paul Gauguin and inspiration for many of his paintings, Martinique offers history as well as beauty. In the South the beach of Les Salines stands comparison with the very best. In the East lies Josephine’s Bathtub, a shallow area of sea ideal for bathing but which requires a boat journey out to sea in order to reach it.

There are many excursions available on Martinique, most of which may be booked in advance. Excursions may only operate on one day per week and are subject to change. Jardin de Balata/Pelée Volcano
North of the island - drive through "La Trace", an ancient trail through the rain forest and see the Jardin de Balata. Visit Saint-Pierre, the former capital which was destroyed by the volcano above and on to a rum distillery.
Visit the Pagerie Estate and museum, birthplace of the Empress Josephine. Then to a rum distillery and the beautiful beach at Salines.
Bathe in shallow water way out at sea and later, dine and relax at a small offshore island.
